For all you crafters out there you know that Chistmas is coming and it's time to get some card ideas rolling to be ready in time. If you haven't started already here are a few top tips to make your own handmade cards which will really impress your friends and family this year.
1) Buy a few craft magazines to whet your appetite and begin stimulating your imagaination. Choose a few different mags to get a range of ideas and then pull out anything which appeals to you. By searching through these magazines you will find new and innovative ideas for making your own beautiful handmade cards.
2) Keep a scrap box. Rip out magazine articles, received cards etc and put them all in a box. When you're later stuck for ideas, just start rummaging through and watch your creativity flow.
3) Check your stock. As it's Christmas you need to be checking what stock you have in golds, reds, greens and silver. You may prefer more contemporary design in which case you may like to consider blues and purples too. Essential items include card blanks, coloured card stock, ribbons, foils, sequins, rubber stamps, glitter...
4) Go Shopping! One of my favourite parts of crafting is hitting the shops to find the latest craft products. Shops also have some great displays to help your own creativity. I suggest you buy just a few items and then begin testing them out in different ways at home.
5) You now need to pull all your favourite ideas and themes together into some great designs. This may take some time to get the right balance for each card to get ther right composition.
6) When your designs are ready, get making and sending them out. Your friends and family will be delighted by your inspired new handmade designs - and you can feel great because you had such fun making them.
